Our Origin Story

Family Meal Hospitality Trust, a certified 501(c)(3) nonprofit charity organization, emerged from a desire to support struggling hospitality industry workers. Our journey began with the passing of the legendary Anthony Bourdain, a figure whose passion for food and advocacy for the industry inspired us to positively impact the lives of those facing challenges.

Rapid Growth and Immediate Impact

In our inaugural year in 2018, we swiftly rallied to raise funds for the foundation of suicide prevention, driven by a sense of urgency to address mental health issues within the hospitality community. The response was overwhelming, and the momentum continued to build as we garnered support from compassionate individuals and organizations.

2020: A Year of Unprecedented Challenges

The hospitality industry was hit particularly hard as the world grappled with the challenges brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic. In response to the growing need, Family Meal Hospitality Trust kicked into high gear. 2020 was a turning point for us, and we navigated the tumultuous landscape by leveraging various channels, including GoFundMe campaigns and grants, to provide critical assistance to those in the industry who were most affected.

Our Focus

Family Meal Hospitality Trust remains steadfast in its commitment to offering tangible support to hospitality workers facing financial, emotional, or mental health challenges. Our initiatives are designed to make a meaningful impact on individuals and families within the industry, ensuring that they receive the assistance they need to weather difficult times.
